Type Locality and Naming

It was proposed by Hu Zejing in 1982. The type section is located from east of Shuiquangoutun Village to Sujiagou, Xiaochengzi Township, Linxi County, Nei Mongol Zizhiqu.

Synonym: (水泉沟组)


Lithology and Thickness

Lower part consists of biotite quartzose schist, two-mica plagio-gneiss, muscovite quartzose schist with minor black carbonaceous slate partings. Upper part is composed of phyllitic slate, meta-sandstone, schistose andesite porphyrite and schistose porphyroid. It is 1348 m in thickness in the type section.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

The base of this formation is in conformable with the gneiss of the Shuangjingzi Fm (early Silurian).

Upper contact

The unconformity is inferred for the upper boundary in this area. On regional strat column, the next younger unit is the Xingshuwa Fm of late Silurian,

Regional extent

The formation is exposed along the Xar Moron River, south of the Linxi County, Nei Mongol Zizhiqu.
